Thermal characterization of Pulsating Heatpipes (PHP)



Pulsating heat pipes (PHPs) are high-performance heat spreaders with a low mass and flexible geometry that can be used in a variety of industries.


During operation of a PHP, pulsating evaporation and condensation of the working medium occurs, resulting in an oscillating movement of the fluid in the meandering channels of the PHP.

The pulsating mass transport inside the PHP enables highly efficient heat transfer. However, different applications, designs and operating characteristics require individual thermal characterization.
